Geographical Information Systems Adjunct Brightpoint Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. The college serves students and the community at its two campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online, and in locations throughout its service area. Its mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. We are seeking a part‑time faculty member to teach evening courses in the areas of Geospatial Technology using the ArcGIS software suite. General Information Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits apply to the total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS. Work schedule: Varies. Responsibilities Teach basic concepts of the use of the ArcGIS software suite for data visualization and creation of maps. Editing existing maps and using ArcGIS for spatial data analysis are included in the introductory course. May be required to perform other duties as assigned and, in the event of an emergency declaration by the governor, assist the agency or state government. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Two years of related work experience. Proficiency with instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check. Additional Considerations Work experience in the use of the ArcGIS software suite for land development projects.
