Department of the Navy – Twentynine Palms, California Job Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our team. Major Duties Set up food service counters and side service stands with hot and cold food and beverages, including desserts and condiments. Assist customers in the selection and purchase of specialty coffee beverages and retail items. Provide and stock quality beverages such as espresso drinks, Coffee of the Week, retail items and food products according to established recipe and presentation standards. Use suggestive selling techniques to sell associated products. Serve food and beverages, making coffee in large urns as requested, managing timing and brewing. Serve food, pastries, and beverages in standard portions, placing uniform amounts in prescribed containers. Clean dishwashers and associated appliances inside and out, maintaining the customer service area and equipment in a clean and appealing manner. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to established checklists and schedules. Follow store policies, operational flow, merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing standards. Operate the cash register and maintain a personal change fund. Complete prescribed training. Provide world‑class customer service with an emphasis on courtesy, friendly communication, and problem resolution. Adhere to safety regulations, sanitation guidelines, and use required safety equipment. Report workplace hazards, injuries, occupational illnesses, and property damage promptly to the immediate supervisor. Actively support the principles of the EEO program and prevent sexual harassment. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications – Skills and Knowledge Ability to perform multi‑step tasks and use judgment in sequential tasks. Skill in serving uniform individual portions and maintaining focus under simultaneous requests. Basic arithmetic skills. Ability to read and follow instructions. Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures and safety guidelines. Qualifications – Responsibility Follow written or oral instructions, adapting to changes or new assignments. Use judgment to ensure sanitation, attractiveness, timeliness, safety, and service standards are met. Maintain performance standards under supervision monitoring. Physical Effort Light to moderate effort, including frequent lifting or moving objects and constant standing and walking. Lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs. independently and lift objects over 45 lbs. with assistance. Working Conditions Uncomfortably warm and noisy environment. Exposure to minor cuts, bruises, burns, scalds, and possible slips on wet floors. Exposure to extreme temperatures in hot kitchens.
