Job No: 539246 Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Classification Title Dental Assistant I Minimum Requirements High school diploma and one year of appropriate experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. College coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute for experience. Job Description Assists faculty, residents, and dental students chairside in patient care. Takes and develops X‑rays, instructs patients on preventative dental techniques and oral hygiene. Maintains dental records in axiUm. Maintains operatories, stocks mobiles, and ensures regular maintenance of clinical equipment. Assists in organizing and controlling the use of clinic supplies and medications. Assists in sterilization of instruments. Participates in student education of auxiliary utilization. Pursues in‑service training; maintains current CPR certification (six hours of credit every two years). Assists as needed with answering phones and making patient appointments. Expected Salary $16.76 - $18.00 per hour Required Qualifications High school diploma and one year of appropriate experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. College coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute for experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and pay close attention to details. Ability to instruct patients in preventive dental techniques. Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Knowledge of dental terminology. Knowledge of dental hygiene principles and practices. Additional Information This position is eligible for veteran's preference.
