HVAC Specialist

We have an outstanding career opportunity for anHVAC Specialistto join a leading Company located in the Houston, TX surrounding area. The HVAC Specialist is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and startup of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, with a primary focus on centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers. This position requires advanced technical knowledge, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service. Job Responsibilities: Perform preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial chillers. Diagnose and repair centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers from major manufacturers including: Trane Carrier York Daikin / McQuay Mitsubishi Johnson Controls Other major manufacturers Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and control system failures. Perform compressor inspections, repairs, and replacements. Diagnose refrigerant circuit issues including leaks, restrictions, contamination, and oil-related problems. Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak testing in accordance with EPA regulations. Troubleshoot and repair: Pumps Cooling towers Condenser water systems Chilled water systems Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Perform eddy current testing coordination and assist with tube inspections. Analyze equipment operating data to identify efficiency losses and recommend corrective actions. Perform equipment startups and commissioning. Complete vibration analysis, temperature readings, pressure analysis, and operational testing. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, sequence of operation documents, and equipment manuals. Utilize manufacturer software and controls for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Complete accurate service reports, inspection documentation, and customer recommendations. Communicate repair options and findings clearly with customers and internal management. Maintain company vehicle, tools, testing equipment, and inventory. Participate in emergency service rotations and after-hours calls as required. Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures. Basic Hiring Criteria: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical HVAC or refrigeration education preferred. Minimum of 5 years commercial HVAC experience. Minimum of 3 years servicing commercial chillers preferred. EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Texas Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Registration preferred. Ability to obtain required site clearances as needed. Advanced refrigeration diagnostics. Commercial electrical troubleshooting. Motor controls. VFD troubleshooting. Chiller control systems. Refrigerant management. Oil analysis. Mechanical equipment alignment. Pump systems. Cooling tower operation. Water treatment awareness. Digital multimeter usage. Megohmmeter testing. Pressure and temperature analysis. Superheat/Subcooling calculations. Brazing and pipe repair. Equipment startup procedures.
