About This Role

The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in creating a nurturing environment for children, working closely with the Teachers and Director to develop and implement engaging educational programs. Effective communication, active listening, and teamwork are essential skills for success in this position. Assistant teachers work collaboratively to observe and document children's progress, sharing valuable insights with parents and staff to foster positive relationships. Under the guidance of the Teacher and Director, they design and implement activities tailored to meet the unique interests and needs of each child.

• Collaborate with Teachers to design and implement curriculum-based activities, promoting children's participation and engagement.
• Engage actively in classroom activities, maintaining a clean and organized environment by ensuring the availability and accessibility of materials.
• Maintain open lines of communication with parents through regular informal discussions and progress reports, keeping them informed of their child's development and interests.
• Model self-help and good hygiene practices, encouraging children to adopt healthy habits and behaviors.
• Streamline the daily transition process for children, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience as they move from home to the child care center.
• Comply with all center policies and state regulations, upholding the highest standards of care and education.
• Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance skills and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

• Must earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or meet DCF requirements for the position within 4 months of hire.
• High energy and ability to work well with others are essential.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as basic computer skills, are necessary.
• A solid understanding of child development is crucial for success in this role.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification is mandatory.
• A thorough background check and health screening are necessary for employment.
• Must pass health screening.
