Software Engineer II

Abbott seeks a Software Engineer II for its Cancer Diagnostics division to design, develop, and maintain Java-based software applications of moderate to high complexity. The role involves working on cross-functional agile teams to deliver scalable features and services while supporting production deployments.
Responsibilities
- Apply software engineering principles and design patterns to develop and maintain Java applications
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable features with minimal supervision
- Investigate and resolve complex bugs and performance issues in production environments
- Participate in architectural discussions and evaluate design alternatives
- Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, DevOps, and technical teams on cross-functional projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or 4+ years equivalent professional experience
- Hands-on experience with object-oriented programming languages, preferably Java
- Experience with service communication protocols such as RESTful APIs, gRPC, or SOAP
- Proficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL and ORM technologies such as Hibernate
- Hands-on experience building cloud-based API solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience working in Scrum teams and familiarity with Agile principles, JIRA, and Confluence
- Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship
Compensation: $61,300–$122,700 base
