Job Opportunity

Position Details

This is a night shift position for a 4x12 hour schedule, running from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The role may require floating based on unit needs and will involve weekend coverage every other week, though this may vary depending on the requirements of the unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) setting, with a focus on Medical Surgical/Telemetry as well as Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Administer medications and treatments as per established protocols, utilizing the Omnicell medication system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy, among others.
• Perform essential nursing skills such as vital sign monitoring, IV management, and patient assessments.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record system for charting and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in LTAC, Medical Surgical, and Telemetry nursing.
• EPIC experience is required (at least 1 year).
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Active nursing license in South Carolina.
• Preferred previous charge experience, but not mandatory.

Skills

• Proficient in managing antiarrhythmics, anticoagulation therapy, and antihypertensives.
• Experience with arterial line management and central line care.
• Ability to monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including CHF and renal failure.
• Skilled in performing various procedures such as catheter insertions, wound care, and monitoring dysrhythmias.
• Knowledge of modes of ventilation and care for patients on mechanical ventilation.

Patient Care Details

• Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics
• Daily Census: Approximately 15 patients
• Staffing includes interdisciplinary support from various specialties.

Work Environment

The position involves working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where floating between different units may be necessary based on patient care needs.

Orientation and Training

• Comprehensive orientation will be provided upon starting.
• Travelers are required to complete pre-assignment testing and several modules within 48 hours of receiving login information.
• Reimbursement for hours spent on completing modules (up to 16 hours) applies as per contract guidelines.
