Technical Accounting Manager, Advisory

Overview Baker Tilly is a leading advisory, tax and assurance firm serving clients coast‑to‑coast and globally. This role is for a Manager in the Financial Advisory Services (FAS) team, focusing on Technical Accounting and Financial Instruments for clients in financial services, digital assets, and fintech sectors. Responsibilities Serve as a senior advisor with deep expertise in financial instruments, derivatives, securitizations, digital assets, and complex accounting issues. Lead and deliver advisory engagements on complex accounting topics including Consolidations (ASC810), Revenue Recognition (ASC606), Leases (ASC842), Business Combinations (ASC805), Impairments (ASC350/360) and Share‑based payments (ASC718). Advise on classification, measurement, and disclosure of financial instruments under ASC815, ASC825, and IFRS9. Develop accounting policies, execute restatements, and remediate material weaknesses. Participate in projects related to USGAAP advisory, Business Analytics, Decision Support, Transaction Support, and Finance Transformation. Supervise, develop, and train staff on engagements. Interact directly with senior managers, partners, and client executive teams to manage client relationships and business opportunities. Contribute to recruiting, employee referral programs, and firm diversity initiatives. Set and achieve profitability, billing, and collection objectives and manage risk. Maintain relationships across service lines and seek opportunities to expand firm services for clients. Qualifications 5+ years of experience at a large accounting firm in audit or financial advisory for the financial services industry. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field; Master’s preferred. CPA certification required; CFA or other relevant certifications a plus. Deep expertise in USGAAP and/or IFRS advisory knowledge. Experience with tools such as PowerBI and/or Tableau is a plus. Knowledge of Middle Market financial suite applications (QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and associated data consolidation, reporting, and analytics. Strong analytical, modeling, and data‑driven insight generation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to present to senior client personnel. Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines and in fast‑paced environments. Team player who can interact effectively across all client personnel levels. Demonstrated initiative, motivation, and positive attitude. High ethical standards and commitment to inclusive culture. Compensation The compensation range for this role is $124,910 to $236,800, influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
