Payroll Assistant

Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will support the payroll process by ensuring accurate and timely compensation for employees, managing payroll data entry, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities Process payroll transactions accurately using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring timely payments to employees. Enter and verify payroll data, including hours worked, benefits deductions, taxes, and other adjustments using accounting software like QuickBooks or Ceridian. Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, ensuring consistency and accuracy across financial records. Assist with benefits administration tasks related to payroll, including tracking leave accruals and processing benefit deductions. Support accounts payable and receivable functions by managing related data entry and journal entries within financial software platforms. Collaborate with human resources to ensure compliance with tax regulations and governmental reporting requirements. Perform account reconciliation tasks such as verifying debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and preparing detailed reports for management review. Maintain meticulous records of payroll transactions, employee data updates, and audit documentation for internal controls and compliance purposes. Experience Proven experience working with payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or Kronos is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting. Familiarity with financial concepts related to benefits administration, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting is advantageous. Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy with proficiency in 10 key typing skills. Experience handling accounts payable/receivable processes along with account reconciliation tasks. Knowledge of tax regulations affecting payroll processing and reporting requirements is a plus.
