Technologist, Radiologic Bone Densitometry
Performs bone densitometry scans for a defined population, delivering high quality care and service that meets specific standards and clinical guidelines, optimizing operational excellence in a safe and efficient manner. Demonstrates clinical competency by consistently performing accurate examinations to be interpreted by the physicians. In collaboration with clinical supervisor, identifies learning needs, opportunities to improve systems and processes, develops solutions and assists with implementation and monitoring.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs bone densitometry scans for a defined population according to established procedures.
- Obtains appropriate patient clinical history prior to performing the procedure.
- Refers appropriate clinical questions to the nursing staff and/or physicians.
- Maintains appropriate quality control on all procedures and technical equipment involved in the diagnostic process at designated intervals. Maintains required reports.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of bone densitometry scans and maintains clinical competence.
- Confirms members preparedness for exam based on patient instruction sheet.
- Enter correct identification information into machine.
- Positions member correctly and accurately for the exam.
- Archive exams onto a disc on a daily basis.
- Print and distribute exams with interpretation worksheet and questionnaire to Rheumatologist for interpretation, according to the schedule provided by the physicians.
- Print and distribute transcribed reports to ordering physician (including affiliate physicians and medical records).
- Give members appropriate discharge instructions and literature.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with Rheumatologists and transcription service necessary to the smooth functioning of the department.
- Demonstrates a willingness to accept additional and/or varied assignments as needed within the team/facility/region.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Education:
- Graduated from an accredited program.
- High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration:
- Radiologic Technologist Certification
- Basic Life Support
Additional Requirements:
- Complete a Customer Service Assessment.
- Must demonstrate ability to work well within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment.
