PDX Café Lead (Opener)

PDX Cafe Lead (FOH) We are looking for an experienced front‑of‑house cafe lead to partner with Tillamook managers to oversee all aspects of the foodservice program at the Port of Portland location. The role requires strong leadership, customer service, and food safety skills. What you will do Use your leadership and operational skills to manage the FOH team and foodservice program, ensuring high standards of quality, customer service, health and safety, and compliance with all Tillamook guidelines. Responsibilities include: Opening and closing procedures, including cash management and register accuracy. Training and supervising new and existing team members. Maintaining food safety standards, inventory, and inventory stocking. Collaborating with cross‑functional teams (Ice Cream, Restaurant, Prep). Managing labor usage and scheduling in alignment with business needs. Here’s a day in the life: Ensure all company standards for quality, customer service, health, and safety are met. Provide training to new employees and give timely, honest feedback to FOH staff. Build respectful relationships with vendors, customers, coworkers, and management. Demonstrate outstanding customer service and address inquiries and concerns. Actively support FOH/BOH processes and provide feedback to management. Manage labor, schedule breaks, and adjust daily tasks based on business needs. Perform opening/closing FOH procedures for your shift. Carry out limited menu duties in BOH when necessary. Maintain positive relationships with Port of Portland staff and community. Operate registers, ensure cash drawer accuracy, and process payable exceptions as needed. Support FOH prep and communicate with leads and management for menu consistency. Complete stock runs, maintain storage facilities, and ensure food safety standards. Uphold brand standards and keep menu knowledge current to answer customer questions. Knowledge, skills, and abilities High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years of customer service experience. Knowledge of health regulations and food safety standards. Must obtain a Food Handler’s Certification within 30 days of hire. Must be 18+ and obtain an OLCC license. Maintain TSA clearance for access to the Port of Portland. Physical requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 35 lbs. Adequate vision and hearing for food safety. Work various shifts and weekends. Working Conditions Tillamook Market can be noisy and crowded. Building is temperature controlled and well‑lit. Duties include standing entire shift, walking on sales floor, climbing ladders in the storeroom, and time in the freezer. Repetitive motion of hands, lifting up to 35 lbs.
