Job Description

The Superintendent leads field and project operations for data center-related work, balancing approximately 50% hands-on field supervision with 50% administrative responsibilities. This role oversees hiring, training, and managing project staff; ensures projects are profitable and completed on time; and maintains strict compliance with budgets, schedules, and documentation requirements. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, conducts quality assurance inspections, and drives process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, workplace safety, and the effective use of tools, equipment, and company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, and manage project staff to support data center and low-voltage installations.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of field crews, maintaining an approximately 50/50 balance between field work and administrative duties.
• Ensure project profitability by monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and aligning resources with project goals.
• Drive on-time project completion by managing schedules, coordinating tasks, and proactively resolving issues that may impact timelines.
• Oversee job execution to ensure work meets design specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations.
• Conduct regular quality assurance inspections, including checks on fiber optic cabling, CAT5, low-voltage wiring, and related systems.
• Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, maintaining clear communication and building strong relationships.
• Prepare, maintain, and manage project documentation, including reports, records, and compliance tracking for construction and telecommunications work.
• Implement and refine operational processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality across projects.
• Promote and enforce workplace safety practices, ensuring crews follow safety procedures and use tools and equipment correctly.
• Manage tools, equipment, and company vehicles to support field operations and maintain readiness for project needs.
• Train and mentor team members, including traveling to other sites to provide instruction and share best practices.
• Support prefabrication work for data center sites by setting standards, overseeing execution, and ensuring quality.
• Collaborate with operations and construction teams to coordinate low-voltage and fiber optic work with broader project activities.
• Perform documentation and quality checks on telecommunication and low-voltage systems to verify proper installation and performance.

Essential Skills

• Proven leadership experience managing and leading field crews in construction, telecommunications, or low-voltage environments.
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation and termination.
• Practical experience with CAT5 and other structured cabling systems.
• Strong background in low-voltage wiring and low-voltage systems used in data centers and telecommunications.
• Ability to train and instruct others effectively, including delivering on-site and remote training.
• Experience reading and working from blueprints and construction drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking.
• Experience conducting quality checks and inspections on construction, cabling, and telecommunication installations.
• Operational experience in construction or telecommunication projects, including coordinating field activities.
• Willingness and ability to travel periodically to other sites to train teams and learn standardized methods.
• Strong organizational skills to balance field supervision with administrative responsibilities.
• Effective communication skills to serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working on data center projects or similar large-scale technology facilities.
• Experience with prefabrication work related to data center sites.
• background in telecommunication operations and cabling projects.
• Ability to develop and refine training materials and processes for field staff.
• Familiarity with construction documentation practices and project reporting tools.
• Comfort with traveling by air for occasional visits to other project sites.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement process improvements.
• Attention to detail when performing quality assurance inspections and documentation reviews.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on data center construction and prefabrication sites, combining field supervision with office-based administrative work. You will work closely with crews installing fiber optic, CAT5, and other low-voltage cabling and systems, using construction tools, telecommunication equipment, and documentation platforms. The schedule follows typical construction and project timelines, with occasional travel, including flights, to other locations for training and site support. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring adherence to site safety protocols and appropriate attire suitable for active field work on construction and data center sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, IN.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lebanon,IN.
