The Patient Care Coordinator (Pharmacy Technician) serves as the primary point of contact for assigned facilities, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of our long-term care pharmacy. This role is primarily focused on data entry, prescription processing, patient profile management, and coordinating communication between facilities, providers, and the pharmacy team to ensure timely and accurate medication services.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as this position serves as a liaison between Altruix and our facility partners.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Annapolis, MD. Due to the collaborative nature of the role and the need to respond quickly to facility and pharmacy needs, we strongly prefer candidates who reside within approximately 2030 minutes of our Annapolis location.

Compensation for this role ranges from $22.00 $25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Main Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned facilities, building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Enter new prescriptions, medication orders, and patient information into the pharmacy management system with a high degree of accuracy.
• Process inbound faxes and electronic prescriptions while ensuring orders are complete and accurate.
• Maintain and update resident profiles, including medication additions, changes, and discontinuations.
• Coordinate with pharmacists, providers, nurses, and internal departments to resolve prescription questions and clarify orders.
• Communicate professionally with facilities regarding prescription status, medication availability, and account inquiries.
• Triage prescription requests and prioritize work to meet turnaround expectations.
• Assist with insurance and billing inquiries, prior authorizations, and prescription-related documentation as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of customer interactions and prescription updates.
• Support pharmacy operations by answering incoming phone calls and responding to emails in a timely manner.
• Assist other pharmacy team members as needed to ensure efficient workflow.
• Follow all company policies, HIPAA requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Maryland Pharmacy Technician registration/certification, or willingness to obtain it within the required timeframe.
• Previous experience working in a pharmacy setting.
• Strong computer and data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a long-term care pharmacy.
• Experience with pharmacy data entry, prescription processing, or patient care coordination.
• Experience using SuiteRx or other pharmacy management systems.
• Knowledge of pharmacy billing, insurance processing, and medication terminology.
• Experience supporting facilities, providers, or patients in a customer-facing pharmacy role.
