Assistant Manager, Product
At CHANEL, we are focused on creating an inclusive culture that nurtures personal growth, contributing to collective progress. We believe the uniqueness of each individual increases the diversity, complementarity, and effectiveness of our teams. We strongly encourage your application, as we value the perspective, experience, and potential you could bring to CHANEL.
About the role:
The Assistant Manager, Product Costume Jewelry & Other Accessories, is a brand ambassador and emerging product expert who plays a vital supporting role within the Product Orchestration pillar. Working closely with the Manager, Product, this role is responsible for the hands-on execution that keeps the category engine running — gathering data, maintaining product accuracy, supporting the buy process, and ensuring day-to-day product movement is managed with precision.
This role is where product fluency is built. The Assistant Manager develops deep category knowledge through daily immersion and learning how boutique-level insights connect to Home Office Merchandising decisions. Within their category, the Assistant Manager helps ensure that the spirit of each collection is understood and felt — from the accuracy of the data that supports the buy, to the way product is organized in the boutique.
The Assistant Manager contributes to Fashion Advisor visibility on product by ensuring the accuracy and availability of the information that powers real-time storytelling — from delivery updates and SKU status to reserve tracking and product details that help FAs advise clients with confidence. This role also reinforces the principle of One Boutique, One Story — helping the team embrace that each boutique's assortment is intentionally curated and that every product in the boutique has a purpose and a place in the collection narrative. In doing so, this role supports bringing product to the center of retail from the ground up.
This role reports to the Manager, Product [insert category] and may be dedicated to a specific sub-category within the PM's broader category scope.
- Costume Jewelry, Accessories
What impact you can create at CHANEL:
Category Support & Product Fluency
- Build and deepen category knowledge through daily engagement with product data, client feedback, floor observations, and reporting tools including the Fashion Merch Dashboard and product delivery dashboards
- Support the Manager, Product with reporting and product search responsibilities — ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Contribute ideas and creative solutions that enhance the team's ways of working — bringing a fresh perspective to processes, tools, and collaboration based on daily immersion in the detail of the work
- Foster a positive working environment and create a culture of feedback, encouraging diversity, mutual respect, and teamwork
- Maintain a minimum of 50% floor presence — observing client response, how Fashion Advisors storytell, and building the product fluency that is foundational to growth in this role
Product Movement & SKU Support
- Execute day-to-day product movement within the assigned category under the PM's direction, ensuring full visibility with on-hand inventory
- Manage product flow at the tactical level: review incoming deliveries and flag correctly with the Operations Excellence team, routing to the appropriate boutique location based on priority and the AD and PM's direction
- Process product requests from other boutiques, including coordinating with the PM on decisions that balance boutique needs with sell-through strategy and client commitments
- Support the client reserves lifecycle, assisting with VIC request documentation, Reserve Tool entry, and tracking reserve status with precision and rigor in coordination with the Client Development team
- Maintain SKU-level tracking and accountability across the category. This includes monitoring product status, sell-through pacing, and movement to proactively flag actions needed (transfers, restocks, client outreach) to the PM
Pre-Buy: Data Gathering & Preparation
- Gather and organize data that feeds the PM's category analyses: sell-through reports, sizing and segment performance data, client demand patterns, and missed sales tracking
- Flag data anomalies, emerging patterns, or notable client feedback to the PM for interpretation and action
During Buy: Buy Process Support
- Consolidate buy review materials for the PM, including category performance summaries, client data pulls, historical sell-through comparisons, and reserve documentation
- Support the PM in documenting collection feedback and client reserves in the buying tool
- Assist with sizing data preparation for applicable categories — compiling the client and historical data the PM uses to size the buy once the assortment is finalized
- Serve as secondary point of contact for the HO category buyer — maintaining continuity in the boutique-buyer collaboration
- Observe and learn from the buy process — building understanding of how boutique insights translate into buy decisions and how the AD and PM partner with Merchandising
Post-Buy: Detail & Accuracy
- Support the PM, Fashion Ex, and VM teams in pre-launch activities
- Enter and maintain client reserves in the Reserve Tool — ensuring all commitments are accurately captured, trackable, and up to date
- Assist in communicating product updates to internal teams by leveraging self-service dashboards and system tools — ensuring delivery timelines, assortment changes, and category priorities are clearly shared
- Support the PM with VM and Fashion Training & Styling peers by providing accurate product details and data to drive shifts in-season
- Support all floor moves in the assigned category — working alongside peers to understand how to execute global image standards within the local inventory and client context
Post-Launch: Tracking & Observation
- Execute day-to-day sell-through tracking at the category level with a sense of ownership and accountability — monitoring what's moving, what's stalling, and what's generating unexpected client interest
- Track client reserve conversion — following up on pending and expired reserves and flagging conversion issues to the PM supporting the partnership with the Performance & Experience team
- Review and action on product requests, keeping PM and AD informed and aligned
- Observe product-client interactions on the floor — noting how clients respond, what questions arise, and how FAs are positioning the category, and sharing observations with the PM and Fashion Training & Styling peers to refine education and styling content in-season
- Maintain real-time SKU visibility — ensuring the PM and AD always have current, accurate data to inform in-season decisions
- Join the PM in sharing in-season performance insights with the HO category buyer
You are energized by:
- A genuine curiosity for product — you want to know every detail, every material, every story behind what's in boutique
- Precision and follow-through — you take pride in getting the details right and keeping things running smoothly
- Learning by doing — you thrive when you're immersed in the work, building knowledge through daily practice
- Being on the floor and observing how product comes to life in the hands of clients
- Building collaborative relationships across the boutique and with Home Office partners
- Building toward something bigger — you see this role as a foundation for growth into a Product Manager and beyond
- Creativity and innovation by testing, learning, and taking informed risks
- The history and heritage of The House of CHANEL
What you will bring to the team:
- Deep passion and enthusiasm for product and style
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and work collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort with data — ability to gather, organize, and present information clearly
- Proficiency with reporting tools and dashboards
- Understanding of, and passion for, client experience through a product lens
- Excellent communication skills
- Foreign language skills are preferred but not required
- Passion for the House of CHANEL, its history, product offerings, and commitment to social and cultural initiatives
- Curiosity and desire to learn and grow professionally within the world of CHANEL
Position Logistics:
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Ability to lift 15 lbs.
- Walk and/or stand for extended periods of time on a regular basis
- A flexible schedule with the ability to work late nights, weekends, and some holidays
- Requires full-time in-store presence to ensure boutique image and operational standards are upheld and execute for business results
*Chanel, Inc. reserves the right to edit, change, or make exceptions on designations where circumstances where deemed appropriate.
What skills you will learn:

- The full product lifecycle — from pre-buy data gathering through launch and in-season tracking
- Client reserve management — understanding the end-to-end process from requests to conversion accountability
- How boutique insights connect to Home Office Merchandising decisions — building the partnership skills that define the PM role
- Exposure to Visual Merchandising and Fashion Training & Styling through the Product Orchestration pillar
