CNC Laser Operator

This role requires proficiency in 5-axis laser cutting and a strong understanding of CNC machines. The candidate should be familiar with NC programming and capable of performing moderate physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Set up fixtures, vises, and rotary tables, and measure fabricated parts.
• Apply knowledge of mathematical tasks and trigonometry to operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
• Identify and communicate machine and quality issues to management as they arise.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of three years' experience in setting up and operating 5-axis CNC lasers.
• Knowledge of metal alloys.
• Ability to interpret dimensions and tolerances in both metric and inch measurements.
• Experience in picking up part and fixture locations to set up cutting planes.
• Proficiency in using dial calipers, micrometers, height gauges, precision protractors, and indicators.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to solve right triangles on parts.
• Willingness to work at assigned jobs within or outside the machine shop department.

Work Environment

The position operates on a second shift from 4 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, following a 4x10 AWS work schedule. The job involves repetitive tasks, making pieces in batches of 20-30, with about 2-3 different setups daily, which may vary.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of El Cajon, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
