Behavioral Health Technician

Salary Range $20.00 to $22.00 annually Position Overview The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) serves as the frontline liaison between patients and the clinical/medical staff, ensuring a safe and caring environment for individuals in recovery. The BHT performs regular patient rounds, records observations, and promptly reports any concerns to nursing staff and management. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Specific Responsibilities Complete patient rounds on time and check for life signs by visually monitoring each patient. Conduct environmental rounds, inspecting all rooms and ensuring locked doors and patient restrooms remain secure. Ensure all unoccupied patient beds are made and ready for potential admission. Oversee patients on assigned units, ensuring adherence to daily schedules and escorting them to groups, meals, smoke breaks, and activities. Facilitate assigned groups and complete required documentation by the end of each shift. Transport patients to and from appointments and meetings when necessary. Attend clinical and administrative meetings to share interdepartmental information. Adapt to changes in the work environment and demonstrate flexibility. Follow Infection Control Guidelines at all times. Complete Incident Reports and immediately report safety or risk issues to the Program Director. Provide a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and patients. Apply for training and perform vital sign assessment for patients when trained. Document attendance for all groups. Apply de‑escalation techniques to manage patient emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment; seek assistance when needed. Establish healthy professional relationships with patients and staff, maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality (HIPAA). Assist in the admission process by recording inventory of patient belongings, storing items, and orienting new patients to the program. Maintain clear communication between departments. Complete accurate shift reports, notes, and safety checks each shift. Keep all properties and office spaces clean and neat, teaching clients to care for their environment. Prepare and serve patient coffee, cleaning mugs and restocking supplies as needed. Restock all patient snacks and drinks as needed. Assist with training new BHT hires as required. Work closely with the charge nurse and complete duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Current and valid Massachusetts Driver’s License. Current CPR certification and First Aid. One year of experience in the SUD/Mental Health field (or corresponding college coursework) preferred. Knowledge of 12‑step programs and addiction treatment experience preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
