Position Summary A growing chemical manufacturing company in the Baytown area is seeking a Buyer to join its Supply Chain team. This position is responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, and services that support plant operations while ensuring cost-effective procurement, timely delivery, and strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing within a manufacturing or industrial environment and be comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems, vendors, inventory, and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Purchase materials, equipment, spare parts, and services to support plant operations. Process purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP/MRP system. Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms with suppliers. Track and expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery. Monitor inventory levels and work with internal departments to maintain appropriate stock. Coordinate with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies. Obtain quotes and source new suppliers as needed. Maintain strong vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance. Support maintenance with emergency or rush orders. Assist with freight coordination, blanket purchase orders, and special projects. Qualifications Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. Experience purchasing MRO materials, equipment, spare parts, or plant supplies is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook. Experience using ERP or MRP purchasing systems. Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills. Willingness to occasionally work weekends, holidays, or respond to urgent plant purchasing needs.
