IT Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary: The IT Purchasing Specialist is responsible for purchasing newcomputer and other information technology equipment by coordinatingrequests, researching and completing orders. Duties & Essential Job Functions: Responsible for the procurement of Information TechnologyHardware, Software, Software as Service, IT maintenance andlicensing, and IT Professional Services. Including research of newtechnology purchases and evaluating the performance of thosetechnologies to provide support for management purchasingdecisions. Works within the IT Service Management tool and UniversityProcurement System to complete purchase orders by selecting vendor,negotiating price, payment terms; arranging for product delivery,resolving delivery problems. Reviews and processes IT purchases requests and payments withinthe IT Service Management Tool and University Procurement System byverifying requested purchases, bills from vendors, purchase orders,and items received; resolving discrepancies. Maintains historical reference of equipment by keeping recordsof items and services purchased prices, delivery and product orservice acceptability. Maintains quality service by following organizationstandards. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: High School or GED equivalency. 4 years of relevant experience, including troubleshootinghardware and software issues. Knowledge to troubleshoot and test computer hardware. Knowledge to build and assemble parts. Knowledge to integrate peripheral equipment into hardwaresolutions. Knowledge of customer service techniques. Ability to consult with users about hardware solutions. Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations): Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, formsand other printed materials and information. Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and generalcommunication. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching,flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking,kneeling and prolonged sitting. Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs. Work Environment: Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changesand/or variable work hours. There are no harmful environmental conditions present for thisjob. The noise level in this work environment is usuallymoderate. This is an in-person, on-campus role.
