Restaurant Server Assistant - Regent Santa Monica Beach

Job Summary The Server Assistant (SA) is responsible for overseeing table maintenance, maintaining the flow of service and assisting the servers in the dining room. The ideal candidate will deliver food to tables, describe dishes to guests, perform tableside service, monitor guest satisfaction and assist the kitchen in expediting the service process. Must be pleasant, conscientious, professional with excellent knowledge of food and alcoholic beverage selections and operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service. Responsibilities Promote the Restaurant Group and Regent’s service philosophy and style through our people attributes. Deliver exceptional hospitality to all guests, ensuring attentive, polished, and courteous service at all times. Maintain clean and organized workstations that are cohesive with the restaurant’s philosophy, culture and standards of excellence. Recognize or seek areas for staff and restaurant improvement and offer positive solutions for change. Operate within the restaurant daily with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion, courtesy and initiative. Understand all programs, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs. Understand philosophy of management and owner; display consistent attention to detail and follow through of all restaurant policies. Represent the restaurant professionally through effective communication, cooperation and relationships with all business partners. Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant employees and guests. Buss used items at tables; remove all trash. Assist bar with ice delivery. Use of trolleys/carts for table side service. Perform all side work applicable to assigned station. Participate in Pre‑Shift meetings and learn new menu items. Welcome all guests and ensure they receive responsive, professional and gracious service. Describe dinner features as needed (including changes and additions). Answer any questions about the menu, specific food items, the wine list or other inquiries the guest may have. Liaise with server to ensure communication about wants and needs of guests. Understand the order taken by the server and any changes in the menu, dietary restrictions, food allergies, etc. Assist the Chef in expediting the food to the dining room. Aware of all upcoming orders and status of tables expecting food. Always use position numbers and proper spiels. Keep expediter station and kitchen stocked with plates, plate wipes, doilies, etc. throughout service. Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s standards. Maintain a clean, safe environment in the Dining Room and all service stations. Efficiently reset tables as needed to stay within Regent Service Standards. Flexible schedule; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Participate in a pooled tip system. Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay rate for this role is $21.95, plus tips . This rate applies only for jobs performed at Regent Santa Monica Beach.
