Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse

Join a collaborative and compassionate team in our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), where your expertiseand your heartmake a meaningful impact. We're seeking an open-minded, eager-to-learn Registered Nurse to join us. This position is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a high-acuity environment and is committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care during the critical overnight hours. As a CVICU RN, you'll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including individuals recovering from open-heart, abdominal, and vascular surgeries, as well as patients experiencing cardiogenic shock, respiratory failure, COPD, and other serious conditions. Your skills and compassion will support patients and families when they need it most, while you work alongside a dedicated, team-focused group of night shift professionals. Open Shifts: Night Shift Schedule: 24 or 26 hours per week

Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, UHS Wilson Medical Center

Primary Work Shift: Night

Compensation Range: $40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience

You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients
• Serve as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit needs
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management
• Safely administer medications according to UHS policies
• Support effective resource utilization, including staffing, time, and supplies
• Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, Unit Council, and improvement initiatives
• Contribute to peer review, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement
• Provide support and guidance to new employees and students
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator responsibilities when assigned
• Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and mandatory training
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as your expertise grows

Education & Experience

Minimum Required:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting

Licensure & Certifications

Minimum Required:

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License

Preferred:

• CCRN certification
• Additional skills certifications as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
