JOB DESCRIPTION – Youth Director/Pastor 

General Purpose of Position:

To build up the church by abiding with the mission and vision of LifePoint and implementing a comprehensive approach to the serving, growing and mentoring the youth ministry community of the church (in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach) while serving as a spiritual leader and role model to the youth.

Organizational Relationship and Supervision:

The Youth Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Lead Pastor, in cooperation with the Staff, provides an annual evaluation of the Youth Pastor’s performance. 

The Primary Tasks:

• Support the mission and vision of LifePoint Church. 
• Be an advocate for youth and young adults and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of youth in the local church and community.
• Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing, community, worship, bible teaching, discipleship, evangelism as well as ministry and missions’ opportunities.
• Plan biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high-energy services for youth both on Sundays and midweek.
• Stay abreast of new resources and strategies in youth ministry and changes in youth culture and adjust our programming as needed to maintain a current and effective program. 
• Keep parents updated on these strategies, changes and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
• Participate in continuing education events and training opportunities.
• Provide parents with continuing education and training to support them in raising youth.
• Recruit, train and shepherd volunteers to serve in various aspects of youth, and young adult ministry.
• Maintain adequate adult to youth ratios.
• Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth ministries.
• Coordinate Sunday and midweek curriculum for youth (grades 6-12). 
• Provide leadership for youth volunteers, mentors, and parents beyond the classroom.
• Create a culture of community by planning events such as worship nights, camps, and other activities outside of the church facility.
• Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget.
• Maintain contact with youth and parents in a timely and consistent manner keeping them informed of ongoing activities in accordance with the church communication policy. 
• Be available to encourage, challenge, and counsel the youth, young adults and parents towards effective lives as followers of Jesus (i.e., lunch at school, after school visits, attendance at extracurricular activities, home visitations, and support during times of crisis, etc.).
• Work in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a strong teamwork mentality.
• Mentor youth and young adults in developing their leadership skills.
• Attend all weekly Staff Meetings as well as any other regular scheduled meetings.
• Help build a successful pipeline between children’s ministry, youth ministry and young adult ministry.
• Adhere to bylaws and policies set forth in LifePoint Church's employee and church policies.
• Attend a LifePoint Church service every week.
• Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all youth ministry settings.
  
   

Other Responsibilities

• Participate in the general church functions (Outreach Programs, Servant Saturdays, etc.).
• Participate in other aspects of church ministry (non-community related), crucial to the ministry of the church in order to fulfill the mission of LifePoint Community Church.
• Connect with other youth pastors in town on a regular basis.
• Attend a LifePoint Church service every week.
• Engage in personal spiritual growth by attending a LifeGroup or a Bible study and/or one-on-one discipleship.
• Any other responsibilities assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications

·         Professes Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

·         Has a mature faith and pursues a God-honoring lifestyle.

·         Serves from a position of humility – confident, yet coachable.

·         Is an ordained Pastor (or will enthusiastically pursue ordination LifePoint’s designated ordination guidelines).

·         Is able to support the Lead Pastor by providing leadership for the entire staff and congregation in the Senior Pastor’s absence.

·         Adhere to theology and values in harmony with LifePoint’s mission and values as well as statements of belief at -lifepoint-believes.

·         Has a proven, God-given capacity to build exceptional teams.

·         Has a wealth of experience in community-building among both staff and congregants.

·         Has a pastoral heart, is a great listener, and consistently points people towards reconciliation.

·         Has strong counseling skills and a list of exceptional referrals.

·         Has outstanding interpersonal skills.

·         Has excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

·         Welcomes feedback.

·         Is a lifelong learner with a deep hunger for continued growth and development.

·        Embraces LifePoint’s beliefs, vision, and values.
