The nurse will work in a progressive care unit that manages patients transitioning from higher levels of care. Patient ratios on the progressive care unit are typically 2-3 patients per nurse, while on the floor, ratios are generally 4-5. Nurses may work on either side of the dual unit depending on needs. The patient population includes those recovering from lung transplants, surgeries, and various thoracic procedures. Essential skills include cardiac telemetry monitoring and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias. Nurses will be expected to manage and titrate cardiac drips and handle chest tubes. Team collaboration is essential, with interdisciplinary support from various specialties, including respiratory services and social services. This role does not require on-call duty or floating outside the service line. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. Candidates must be prepared to start within 3-4 weeks after compliance checks.
