ACCOUNTANT, FINANCE: NON-PROFIT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the agency through accurate accounting, financial reporting, grant tracking, and regulatory compliance, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close functions. The Accountant monitors restricted and unrestricted funding, prepares financial statements and cash flow reports, assists with budgeting and audits, and ensures compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and federal and state regulations. This role works collaboratively with leadership and program staff to maintain strong internal controls, support financial decision-making, and uphold the organization’s financial integrity. The core responsibilities are fiscal management, compliance, and strategic support. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field 
• Preferred 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in nonprofit accounting and grant management strongly preferred 
• Sage Intacct platform experience preferred but not required

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, with the ability to handle detailed, complex concepts and problems, balance multiple tasks simultaneously, and make rapid decisions regarding administrative issues
• Ability to manage a high-stress position with the ability to plan and meet deadlines
• Ability to use a computer and the software necessary to conduct all functions of the position
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
• Proficiency with accounting systems and automated financial tools 
• Clear, professional communicator who works well across teams and has strong leadership and people management skills
