Details Work in the Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) of an acute care hospital setting 30-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7 Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI Telemetry monitoring available, watched remotely by monitor techs Intermittent BIPAP support used, no ventilator management required RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results One charge RN staffed on the floor in addition to assignment PCTs available on the unit for patient care support Uses EPIC EMR Rotating day/night 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays as needed Approximately half of total weekends required No standby or on-call requirements Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first Navy blue scrubs required Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required Acute care Med/Surg experience required EPIC EMR experience preferred Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg overflow unit managing a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses Collaborate with charge RN and PCT support staff to coordinate patient care Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler Holiday coverage required as needed on a rotating basis First-time travelers are welcome to apply Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers are limited to a cumulative one-year assignment length within WVU facilities before requiring a 2-year break Local candidates are not accepted for this position American Traveler Job ID P-739104.
