VP/Controller- SaaS industry

Mason & Blair, LLC. A premier Accounting and Finance search firm in the Bay area, has teamed with a great SaaS client of ours, on a search for a VP/Controller role.

Will play a key leadership role within the accounting organization, supporting the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. You’ll oversee day-to-day accounting operations, help manage the close process, and ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls. This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role where you’ll partner closely with Finance, FP&A, Billing, AR, and external auditors. You’ll also help drive process improvements and scalability as the business continues to grow.

Related experience

• You bring 14+ years of progressive accounting experience , including public accounting and industry experience within a SaaS company . You have deep knowledge of US GAAP and experience managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Technical accounting expertise.

• You have a strong understanding of key accounting areas, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), accruals, and financial reporting. You are able to research and apply accounting guidance as needed.

Operational excellence

• You have a track record of improving accounting processes and implementing scalable solutions. You understand how to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while maintaining strong controls and accuracy.

Cross-functional partnership

• You collaborate effectively with teams across Finance, Billing, AR, FP&A, and Legal to ensure alignment and accurate financial outcomes.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA required .

Tools and systems experience

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite required
• Familiarity with financial consolidation and reporting tools
• Experience working closely with FP&A systems (Adaptive, Anaplan, etc.) is a plus

Close process expertise

• Proven ability to manage and improve month-end and quarter-end close cycles
• Experience driving efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting

Cross-functional collaboration

• Ability to effectively partner with Billing, AR, FP&A, and operational teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly
