About The Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. In this dual-role position, you will be the heart of our patient experience—providing high-quality clinical support while helping to ensure our front office runs smoothly.

Our new clinic is a dedicated space for the LGBTQIA+ community. We pride ourselves on providing gender-affirming, non-judgmental, and comprehensive healthcare. The ideal candidate is someone who is not only clinically proficient but also deeply committed to health equity and inclusive care.

Your Responsibilities 

• Perform patient intake, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories in the EMR.
• Assist providers with exams and procedures.
• Perform point-of-care testing (e.g. Rapid HIV).
• Administer injections and perform blood draws.
• Coordinate laboratory orders and follow-up on results.
• Keeps supplies stocked; physical lifting of supplies that may be >20 pounds.
• Maintain an organized environment in exam rooms.
• Greet patients with warmth and ensure a gender-affirming check-in process (verifying chosen names/pronouns).
• Manage scheduling, check-ins/check-outs, and phone inquiries.
• Assist with insurance verification and obtaining prior authorizations for specialty medications.
• Maintain patient records with strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality.

Qualification & Skills

• Certification: High school diploma/GED required; Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA); BLS is not required upon hire but will need to be completed within the first 90 days of employment (The cost of your BLS certification will be reimbursed.)
• Experience: While we value experience, we're prioritizing attitude, coachability, and cultural fit; we're eager to invest in the right person who can grow with us.
• Phlebotomy: Proficiency in blood draws and lab processing.
• Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, terminology, and the unique healthcare barriers faced by the community.
• Tech Savvy: Experience with Electronic Medical Records. We utilize Practice Fusion.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional empathy, active listening, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
