ICU RN Opportunity at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital

About This Role

As an ICU RN at NVRH, you'll provide high-acuity, comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring intensive monitoring and complex intervention. You will work with a broad patient population, delivering specialized, compassionate care during critical illness.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver High-Quality Critical Care Provide comprehensive ICU assessments, manage cardiac monitoring and hemodynamics, administer medications safely, perform IV/venipuncture skills, support airway and ventilator management, and respond rapidly to sepsis, shock, and other emergencies.
• Promote Clinical Safety & Best Practices Follow AACN and NVRH protocols; ensure accurate, timely EMR documentation; maintain safe operation of ICU equipment; uphold infection prevention standards; and contribute to quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Support Patient & Family Education Offer clear, compassionate education from admission through discharge, guide families during high-stress situations, and collaborate on safe, effective discharge planning.
• Collaborate, Lead & Mentor Work closely with the interdisciplinary team, support new staff onboarding, foster a positive and professional work environment, and participate in meetings, initiatives, and cross-training efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved RN School of Nursing
• Current Vermont RN license or multi-state compact RN license
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• Completion of a critical care course within 1 year of hire

Preferred:

• PALS certification
• Critical Care or related specialty certification
• Experience in an ICU or high-acuity clinical setting
