About the Role

Our client, an established San Diego County construction contractor, is hiring a full-time Payroll Clerk to process payroll and support accounting operations. This role involves tracking employee time via a job-site timekeeping system, cutting and processing payroll checks, and providing some accounts payable/receivable support. This is a great fit for someone who's detail-oriented, comfortable with numbers, and takes accuracy seriously — payroll errors have real consequences, so precision matters here.

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

• Focused, detail-driven work processing payroll and handling day-to-day accounting tasks
• You'll work from a cubicle/office space located on-site at an active construction/manufacturing yard — not a traditional corporate office setting
• The workplace culture is respectful and team-oriented, but this is a construction environment, and casual/direct language on the floor is part of the territory

Responsibilities

• Process payroll, including cutting and issuing employee checks
• Track and manage employee time records via job-site timekeeping system
• Provide support with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks
• Print and organize reports as needed
• Maintain organized, accurate payroll and accounting records

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior payroll processing experience strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail — comfortable with the responsibility of handling employee pay accurately
• Comfortable learning new software systems
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
• Nice to have: experience with ExakTime and/or Sage accounting software

Schedule

• Full-time, in-office at San Marcos, CA location

Compensation

• $45,000–$55,000/year, depending on experience
