Job Description:


- Shift: 12-Hour Nights
- Unit: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU
- Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:2, with occasional 1:1
- Number of Beds: 16
- Common Diagnoses:
- Young adults to geriatrics
- Sepsis
- STEMI
- COVID
- Stroke
- Neurosurgery
- Renal failure
- Respiratory failure
- COPD
- Cancer
- Key Equipment:
- Gaymar Hypothermia
- Arrow Balloon Pump
- Camino Neuro Monitoring
- CRRT
- Impella
- EVDs
- Lumbar Drains
- Required Skills:
- Titration of Sedation, Paralytics, Pressors, Antihypertensives, Heparin, and Insulin drips
- Charge Nurse Support: Yes, charge nurse takes an assignment.
- Support Staff:
- Nursing Aids/Patient Care Techs (Ratio: 1:10)
- Responsibilities with RT Equipment:
- Assist with troubleshooting vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow
- Monitoring Requirements:
- RNs required to read and interpret own tele strips
- Shift Scheduling:
- 0630-1900, 1830-0700
- Unit schedulers create the schedule
- Weekend Requirements:
- Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirements:
- As needed
- Floating Requirements:
- Mainly to PCU and all areas depending on abilities
- Dress Code:
- RN: Navy Blue
- Orientation:
- 2 shifts of unit/department specific orientation
- Additional Information:

- Focus on bedside shift report and intentional hourly rounding
