Job Title: Charge Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a charge role License: Valid Compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC Must-Have: Ability to charge upon start with minimal department orientation Certification in ACLS, BLS, and TNCC Previous charge experience required Experience with a patient ratio of 4:1 Description: This position requires a registered nurse with charge nurse experience. The nurse will work in the emergency room and is expected to provide care to patients with various emergency conditions. The nurse will participate in patient assessments, emergency procedures, and treatment plans. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a team are essential. The nurse will also assist in triaging patients and managing patient loads. Weekends and block scheduling may be required. The facility utilizes a charting system for documentation purposes. The typical patient census in the emergency room is around 40 patients daily. This position involves working with neonates, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The nurse will have the capability to handle emergencies such as trauma, drug overdose, and respiratory distress. Interdisciplinary support will be available, including therapy and social services. The charge nurse will take patient assignments and float between roles as necessary.
