Senior and Principal Electrical Engineers - Full time and Contract

Position Overview Electrical Engineers at Kiewit design power, control, and energy systems that keep some of North America’s most ambitious industrial and infrastructure projects running. You’ll create systems that perform in real‑world conditions, collaborate directly with construction teams, and solve complex challenges requiring both technical depth and practical, field‑ready thinking. The role supports full‑time and contract colleagues across multiple offices and offers the possibility of remote work for short‑term contracts. Locations include Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Lenexa, KS; Minneapolis, MN; Denver, CO; Kansas; Minnesota; and Houston. Responsibilities Prepare and lead electrical engineering designs, including layout, schematics, calculations, and conceptual designs using standard methods for EPC and Design Build projects for large industrial facilities (e.g., water treatment, wastewater treatment, data centers, campus energy, industrial energy). Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects. Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners; schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts; perform bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and develop recommendations for contract award. Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans. Perform ETAP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies, and grounding integrity. Utilize SmartPlant for design of balance of plant electrical systems. Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining understanding of design standards, applicable codes, and Kiewit guidelines, and providing suggestions and recommendations. Work independently on small projects or as part of a large multidisciplinary team on larger projects, collaborating with in‑house and construction partners. Support RFP, Pre‑Feed, FEED, D/B, and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited four‑year college or university; Professional Engineering License required. 10+ years of experience performing electrical engineering design for industrial facilities such as chemical plants, mining/mineral processing, power, water/wastewater, processing plants, advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV battery. Advanced experience with ETAP simulation/analysis or similar software required. Experience with SmartPlant or similar design software. Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs; familiarity with 30/60/90% completion design progression required; experience leading electrical projects and mentoring junior engineers. Experience in field construction or startup and prior directing of junior engineers desirable. US Citizenship required due to nuclear projects. Other Requirements Regular, reliable attendance.
