The Postdoc fellowship is part of the CBMR International PhD & Postdoc Program. About Us The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) is an academic research center focusing on groundbreaking research toward better cardiometabolic health, with interdisciplinary work spanning genetics, physiology and pharmacology. CBMR aims to translate basic understanding into prevention and treatment strategies. CBMR was established in 2010 and is located in the Maersk Tower at Panum with ~260 employees in a collaborative, international environment. The Pers Group combines human genetics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and experimental circuit neuroscience to study how the brain controls body weight, glucose metabolism and cardiometabolic health. Job Description We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to functionally interrogate a newly identified neuronal population in the brain that is likely to play an important role in central control of energy homeostasis, using state-of-the-art circuit neuroscience approaches. Your Tasks Perform stereotactic injections of viral vectors (Cre-dependent AAVs, DREADDs, anterograde and retrograde tracers) in transgenic mouse lines Carry out in vivo fiber photometry recordings during ingestive, metabolic, and behavioural challenges Map afferent and efferent connectivity of the cell population using mono- and polysynaptic tracing Integrate functional findings with single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets generated in the group and by collaborators Present results at international meetings and lead first-author manuscripts Profile The Postdoc fellowship is aimed at early-career researchers with a basic science background or clinicians who aspire to a career in academic medicine. Candidates familiar with integrative research approaches within basic cardiometabolic research with applications toward human pathophysiology are of particular interest. Required Qualifications PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, Neuroscience, or related sciences Excellent scientific track record with multiple first-author publications relative to career stage Profound knowledge of the central nervous control of energy homeostasis and hypothalamic/brainstem circuit neuroscience Hands-on experience with rodent models, including transgenic Cre-driver lines and Cre-dependent viral strategies Experience with stereotactic surgery, in vivo fiber photometry, DREADDs (and/or optogenetics), and neuroanatomical tracing Strong written and oral communication skills in English; ability to thrive in a collaborative, international team Eligibility The CBMR International PhD & Postdoc Program is open to applicants with a PhD awarded from a university outside Denmark. Danish PhD holders may apply if they have at least 12 months of full-time research experience outside Denmark during or after their PhD. The PhD must be obtained before November 15, 2026. Applicants who have been employed in a postdoctoral position at the University of Copenhagen for more than one year prior to commencement are not eligible. Terms of Employment The Postdoc position is full-time for 2 years. Starting date is November 15, 2026, or after agreement. Salary, pension and terms follow the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC. Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. Tax reductions may apply for non-Danish and Danish applicants who have not lived in Denmark for the last 10 years.
