Systems Engineer III – Job Overview We are looking for a Systems Engineer III to lead technical excellence in product development. The role involves translating the voice of customers into user and business needs, developing system and product requirements, identifying hazards, and ensuring the product meets all necessary specifications. This engineer will regularly serve on small core project teams, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate system‑level product development and integration to meet critical milestones. Location & Contract Details Location: San Diego, CA Contract Term: 12+ Months Weekly Hours: 40.00 hours Job Description – Responsibilities Working knowledge of product development lifecycle Lead system/product‑level feasibility and risk assessments Facilitate cross‑functional knowledge sharing to resolve in‑market and product development issues Coordinate system‑level product development and integration Serve as a resource to examine system behavior issues and bring them to resolution for existing products Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement efforts Apply DFSS best practices on all projects Responsible for developing, enhancing, and sustaining software systems in a cross‑functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. Demonstrates working knowledge of software engineering practices, techniques and processes and basic knowledge of technology trends and domain expertise. Understands and analyzes requirements for a single component, translates the results of analysis into design, and develops modules with moderate guidance. Applies knowledge and skills to a variety of standard activities and works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge. Requires a BS degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related engineering discipline, and 5+ years’ experience. Demonstrated understanding of multi‑threaded software design and development, as well as development in a process‑oriented/regulated environment and adherence to a quality management system. Qualifications Must have a Bachelor of Science Engineering or technical degree. A postgraduate degree is desired. 5 years related work experience required (combination of work experience and advanced degrees). Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to lead multi‑discipline engineering teams. Strong technical background within Systems Engineering, medical device development, or similar. Experience with Systems Engineering and requirements management. Familiar with systems integration and testing, system architectural planning and design, Reliability Engineering, Project Management, and Failure Modes Effects Analysis. DFSS knowledge and experience or statistical test design and analysis knowledge or Critical Parameter Management. Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental (with fellow engineers) and cross‑functional teams (Marketing, Clinical Representatives, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, and Quality Engineers). Must have very strong writing skills. Attention to detail paramount. Identified opportunities for continuous improvement projects/efforts.
