At Hotel Shattuck Plaza, every dining experience depends on the teamwork behind the scenes. Our stewarding team keeps dishes, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and ready for restaurant and banquet service.

We are looking for a Steward to join our culinary team. If you take pride in cleanliness, care for equipment, and enjoy supporting your teammates, we'd love to meet you.

Maintain dishwashing and banquet serving areas in a clean and sanitary condition while keeping the culinary team supplied with clean dishes and utensils.

• Pre-scrape and wash dishes, utensils, and large cooking pots.

• Clean the dishwashing machine and maintain its proper working condition.

• Handle glassware and dishes carefully to prevent breakage.

• Use appropriate cleaning products for silverware and serving pieces.

• Prepare sufficient bus tubs for silverware, napkin rings, creamers, and butter bowls.

• Stock the cook's line with the dishes and utensils needed for service.

• Keep dishware organized, with matching items stored together in each container.

• Ensure large cooking pots are clean and ready for use.

• Clean counters, tables, sinks, and dishwashing areas.

• Keep the mirror box rack, steam table, and glass rack in the banquet dish room clean.

• Clean silver serving pieces and lighted carving boards.

• Check kitchen garbage cans regularly and empty them before they become too full or too heavy to lift safely.

• Sweep and mop kitchen floors.

• Stay alert to the safety of guests and team members.

• Report unsafe conditions to your immediate supervisor.

• Support the culinary and banquet teams by keeping work areas and service items ready for use.

We're looking for someone who pays attention to cleanliness, handles equipment with care, and enjoys contributing to a team.

• Previous hospitality experience preferred.

• Work in the heart of downtown Berkeley.

• Play an essential role in restaurant and banquet service.

• Work alongside the culinary team to keep the kitchen ready for each service.

• Contribute to memorable dining experiences at a historic hotel.
