Thermal Division Project Supervisor Summary Serves as the on‑site supervisor and construction manager for SubZero Thermal Division projects. Essential Functions Superintendent directs the activities of employees engaged in the construction of building thermal projects for SubZero Constructors, Inc. Manages work in progress to ensure that it conforms to design specifications, SubZero high‑level quality and that construction schedules are met. Prepares daily reports, weekly time‑card reports and project‑related paperwork. Participates in meetings with SubZero Design and Project Management Team, General Contractor, End User, and other project subcontractors. Manages the on‑site safety program for each project including all required safety paperwork. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Excellent knowledge of the principals of cold storage construction, including freezer and cooler construction details, vapor barriers, and installation of cold storage doors and underfloor insulation. Excellent verbal communication skills with an emphasis on customer service and marketing of SubZero Constructors to ensure repeat business. (Bi‑lingual in Spanish a plus). Ability to negotiate and mediate issues with a variety of personalities on a project site. Ability to work in the entire continental US at our project sites. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Essential Functions Superintendent directs the activities of employees engaged in the construction of building industrial and commercial refrigeration systems for SubZero Constructors. Duties include layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of functional components of refrigeration system. Manages work in progress to ensure that it conforms to design specifications, high SubZero‑level quality and that construction schedules are met. Prepares daily reports, weekly time‑card reports and other project‑related paperwork. Participates in meetings with SubZero Design and Project Management Team, General Contractor, End User, and other project subcontractors. Coordinates complimentary work by other trades (electricians, plumbers, ironworkers). Manages the on‑site safety program for each project including all required safety paperwork. Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipe lines using pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Excellent knowledge of the principals of refrigeration system and cold storage construction, including piping, piping support and piping insulation details, freezer sub‑slab warming, valves and controls, and control system integration. Prior leadership experience in a similar role. Read blueprints to determine proper placement of equipment, piping, supports and components needed to build refrigeration system. Estimate, order, receive and install materials and supplies needed to maintain construction schedule. Excellent verbal communication skills with an emphasis on customer service and professional representation of SubZero Constructors to create repeat business. (Bi‑lingual in Spanish a plus). Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Technical Design Specialist Summary Create technical drawings for building construction and complex mechanical projects. Essential Functions Use Revit and AutoCAD to create detailed 2D and 3D designs for complex projects. Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from engineers and project managers. Collaborate with project team to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems. Work with other teams to obtain reference information for drawings. Participate in engineering design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations. Make corrections to the model and drawings as requested by senior staff. Create and update database of design records for future reference purposes. Knowledge of cold storage and refrigeration industry, mechanical engineering, mathematics, and materials. Ability to analyze data and situation and come up with creative solutions. Keep up to date on industry and engineering standards. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Prior experience in a similar role preferred. An associate’s degree or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree a plus. Extensive knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD. Ability to think in a three‑dimensional manner. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and Bluebeam Revu. Make decisions based on designs. Strong communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork. (Bi‑lingual in Spanish a plus). Ability to collaborate with others to solve problems. Firm grasp of mathematics, engineering, and cold storage industry information. Pipe Fitting, Welding, and Fabrication Specialist Summary Performs pipe fitting, welding and fabrication for SubZero Refrigeration Division projects. Essential Functions Welder / Pipe fitter is responsible for fitting, welding and fabrication of assemblies and connections to equipment for industrial and commercial refrigeration systems. Duties include layout, fabrication, assembly, installation and welding of both carbon and stainless‑steel piping. Some projects may also require brazing of copper piping. Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Prior experience in a similar role. Journey level experience a plus. Currently certified in SMAW and/or TIG welding processes. Experience leading a crew. Experience with fusion welding and orbital welding experience is a plus. Read blueprints to determine proper placement of equipment, piping, supports and components needed to build refrigeration system. Perform mathematical calculations pertaining to the manipulation of angles such as rolling offsets, cut‑back of fittings and take‑out between welds and other fits. Excellent verbal communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork. (Bi‑lingual in Spanish a plus). Ability to work in the entire continental US, Hawaii & Alaska. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Project Engineer Responsibilities Design of refrigeration systems for cold storage facilities in its entirety – load calculations, equipment selections/sizing (including but not limited to compressors, evaporators, condensers, vessels, & valves), and piping layout. Sizing and routing of refrigeration piping, underfloor warming systems, glycol piping, valve arrangements/sizing, piping layout and sizing of pipe supports. Coordination of information (architectural, structural, electrical and plumbing) with other design consultants and sub‑trades. Defining of control wiring scope and buy‑out of electrical control wiring. Procurement – issuing of purchase orders for equipment, valves, control systems, refrigerant and piping. Develop bid package and issuing of sub‑contracts for pipe insulation and control wiring, and water treatment. Managing of process safety management documentation for ammonia projects. Indexing and ordering of equipment, pipe labels, and valve tags. Management of project startup and system commissioning. Close‑out and distribution of operation and maintenance manual documentation. Develop CAD drawings as required for design, coordination and construction of project. Develop block flow and process & instrumentation diagrams of entire refrigeration system. Create valve schedule list for ammonia projects. Assist field supervisors during construction phase. Visit construction job sites from time to time to manage and observe activities. Qualifications This position requires a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in mechanical engineering, or in a closely related field, plus 1 year of work experience in the job offered or in a closely related occupation. Special Requirements Knowledge of limitations in pressure drop and velocities for selecting correct piping sizes in different refrigeration processes. Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles and applications for designing and selecting correct equipment. Equipment and vessel sizing. Sizing and routing of refrigeration pipe, underfloor warming systems, glycol piping, layout and sizing of pipe supports. Sizing and arrangements of valves, procuring valves and piping. Closing out and distribution of operation and maintenance manual documentation. Using AutoCAD and Revit CAD to design and develop layout of industrial refrigeration systems, including design drawings and construction drawings. Certificate of Completion – IIAR Industrial Refrigeration Workshop. Certificate of Completion – HTRI Process Heat Exchanger Course. Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be “quantified” by “time.” Travel Requirements 10% travel required to client sites in the United States.
