HVAC Technician

The HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots various HVAC systems and associated electrical and piping systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include conducting inspections of all equipment to assess proper function, performing standard preventative maintenance tasks, completing minor equipment adjustments and repairs, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and operating campus HVAC systems and parts, working from piping diagrams and schematics, observing safety regulations, cleaning work areas, and coordinating work with other trades.

Education and/or Experience required includes a High School Diploma or GED, at least 5 years of applicable experience, EPA Certification-Universal, MA Oil Burner Technician Certificate, and 4 years of vocational training or other certified or recognized trades program as pertains to the trade is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications include the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision, knowledge of fire and building codes, willingness to work at various heights and in limited area crawl spaces, regular attendance, ability to interrelate with diverse individuals, and technical competence with MS Office products, preventative maintenance, and work order software.

Physical Demands include sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching, talking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and moving up to 10-25 pounds and frequently lifting and/or moving more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment includes occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, moderate to loud noise levels, exposure to rain, wind, snow, extreme heat, humidity, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and working near mechanical parts and/or moving equipment and tools.

Licenses/Certifications include a valid driver's license.
