Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: 516 E. Nizhoni Blvd., Gallup, NM 87301

Duration: 6-month contract with three (3) 6-month option periods

Shift Schedule: 8-, 10-, and 12-hour tours; days, nights, weekends, and federal holidays. Coverage includes primary, on-call, and surge shifts. Exact tour assignments are set by the Government.

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 to 8 weeks typical.

License: RRT credential through NBRC is required.

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS are mandatory. NRP is strongly preferred and becomes mandatory for anyone assigned to neonatal, newborn nursery, or Women's Health/Labor and Delivery coverage.

Experience needed:

Minimum 1 year of recent acute-care Respiratory Therapy experience within the last 5 years, including pediatrics, adult ICU/ventilator management, ED/trauma, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, med/surg care, patient transport, ECG/EKG, and respiratory medications.

Special Skills needed: Invasive and non-invasive ventilation across neonatal through adult populations; BiPAP/CPAP and neonatal bubble CPAP; intubation assistance, ETT/tracheostomy care, suctioning, weaning, extubation; arterial puncture with blood gas analysis/interpretation; chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, percussion/vibration, peak flow, pulse oximetry, capnography; ECG/EKG; code/rapid response/trauma support; proficiency with IHS EHR/clinical systems; English fluency; cultural competency working with American Indian/Alaska Native patients and communities.

Responsibilities: Deliver full-scope respiratory care across Medical/Surgical, Outpatient, Emergency/Trauma, Pediatrics, Newborn Nursery, ICU, and Women's Health/Labor & Delivery units. Administer oxygen therapy; set up and manage ventilators; administer and monitor nebulized/MDI respiratory medications; collect, analyze, and interpret blood gases; perform equipment setup, safety checks, cleaning/disinfection, and troubleshooting; provide patient/family education; complete timely, accurate documentation meeting TJC, CMS, and HIPAA standards; support emergency and disaster response as needed.
