Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient evaluations, order necessary tests, and develop personalized care strategies
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health issues collaboratively with physicians or independently, depending on your credentials
• Guide patients and their families in prevention, wellness, and management of diseases
• Prescribe medications and treatments following your scope of practice

Education Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Essential Certifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in Alabama
• National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent specialist
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or the ability to obtain within 90 days)
