Water Engineer/Project Manager (CIP Water)

Deputized position provides complex clerical support for the Court system and acts as Clerk in the Courtroom and in the Clerk of Courts Office. Incumbent: Denise Kuechenmeister Clerks courtroom hearings and trials Takes minutes of Court proceedings Administers oaths Marks and collects exhibits Places teleconferencing or interpreter calls Prepares files for court proceedings Collects and organizes papers for proper procedural flow Presides over initial Small Claims appearances by calling cases, pairing parties with mediators and rendering default judgments as appropriate Compares court calendar with involved agencies' calendars and contacts prosecuting authorities as necessary for efficient case scheduling Provides follow-through on problematic cases as needed Provides computer follow-up to court proceedings Dockets proceedings as held Calendars next event(s) as appropriate Prepares follow-up correspondence such as default letters or notices when needed Adds the content of the proceedings to court record to ensure that the history of the case is properly recorded Reviews and interprets files to determine additional action(s) needed and prepares files for next appropriate step in case management, which may include: financial follow-up, court trial, various types of hearings, suspension, judgments of conviction (jail, prison, intensive sanctions, probation), default judgments, taxing of costs, refusals, appeals, post-conviction relief, and/or various other actions Properly records and communicates disposition of cases Prepares, copies, and distributes judgments Closes out cases on computer Organizes cases in preparation for filing away in storage Follows warrant status procedures Creates fee/fine/forfeiture assessments for fiscal case management Sets cases up for reviews as necessary Coordinates with other Clerk of Courts staff to ensure appropriate workflow for relevant case management, including Opening of cases and assignment of case numbers (entry of citations, summons and complaints, criminal complaints, complaints and warrants, summons and petitions, and other actions) Casework paper flow including any fee/fine/forfeiture payments made and/or any paperwork filed (motions, jury demands, garnishments, exhibits, warrants, capiases, appeals, correspondence, or other documents) Reports disposition of cases as necessary and appropriate to case type to a variety of agencies including Department of Transportation-Motor Vehicle Department, Vital Statistics, District Court Administrator, Crime Information Bureau, Probation & Parole Office, Jail, Alcohol & Drug Assessment Facilities, and others Provides a variety of clerical support services Composes and prepares correspondence Assists with inquiries, over the phone, via email and at the counter Provides backup coverage for other staff Performs other related duties as assigned or directed Associate’s Degree in business administration, secretarial science, or related field SUBSTITUTION: A combination of education, experience, or training sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above may be substituted for the required education Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible administrative support experience Three (3) or more years of experience performing progressively responsible administrative support duties Experience or training in each of the following areas: legal terminology and legal processes and standard office practices and procedures Proficiency in personal computer use with Microsoft Office software Experience or training working in a legal office setting Keyboarding skills of 65 w.p.m. Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check Proficiency in job-related skills as demonstrated by practical exercises #J-18808-Ljbffr Town-of-Castle-Rock
