About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Cardiovascular ICU – Wisconsin

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Schedule: 12-hour evening/night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, with every other weekend rotation and some holidays; no call required

Highlights:

• Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic ICU with 27 private rooms serving heart and lung transplant, cardiac surgery, and medical cardiac patients
• Patient mix includes CABG, valve repair/replacement, LVAD, heart and lung transplants, thoracic surgery, STEMI/NSTEMI, and cardiogenic shock
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1-2 patients; well-supported team structure with 2 charge nurses and a rapid response nurse per shift
• Epic charting system; Magnet-designated, nationally ranked academic medical center
• 24 hours of orientation; robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Advanced technology environment with CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, LVAD, and ECMO

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state)
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care CVICU experience within the last 3 years
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
• Cardiothoracic surgery and/or acuity adaptable unit experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Proficiency in managing specialized equipment including CRRT, IABP, Impella, and LVAD required
• Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (80% passing score with strict criteria for lethal rhythms and heart blocks)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
