About the Job Mechanical Estimator Location Requirements: This is a remote, contract-to-hire position. Candidates must currently reside in one of the following locations:
- Indianapolis, IN.
- Phoenix, AZ.
- Portland, OR.
- Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates for industrial mechanical construction projects.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for mechanical piping, HVAC systems, equipment, ductwork, and utility systems.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations.
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontract cost estimates.
- Participate in bid reviews, scope clarification meetings, and value engineering efforts.
- Identify project risks, assumptions, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare estimate summaries and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams throughout the estimating process.
- Support change order pricing and estimate revisions as project scope evolves.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
- 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience on industrial construction projects .
- Experience estimating projects within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, food & beverage, refinery, or other industrial/process facilities is strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing quantity takeoffs for mechanical piping, HVAC equipment, process systems, and utilities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience preparing bid packages, proposals, and detailed cost estimates.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, QuoteSoft, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, RSMeans, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), HeavyBid, B2W , or similar.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
