About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Strong neuro experience - Recent Epic experience - Proficiency with G-tubes Description: This position requires disclosure of any background hits at the time of submission. The unit consists of 20 beds, with a ratio of 1:5-6 for floor patients. BLS and NIHSS certifications are required before submission. ACLS certification is preferred. The unit specializes in Neurosciences, including DBS, stroke, seizures, surgical/post-operative spines, and various neurological disorders. Experience in titrating drips is not required, as titration is managed by physician orders. Common medications include amiodarone, cardizem, nitro, dopamine, nipride, ketamine, lasix, bumex, and insulin. Charge nurse services are available 24/7. Nurse aids are present on the unit, typically a ratio of 1:7-10. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, and RN experience with vents is not required, as they are typically managed by respiratory therapy and physicians. Tele monitoring is available, and RNs do not need to read strips; verification will be documented in the charting system. Travelers should be flexible with scheduling, and weekend shifts will be required. Travelers are expected to work holidays as part of the rotation. Possible floating to other units may occur if necessary. The dress code for the unit includes any combination of white and royal blue. Charting is conducted using the Epic system.
