The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is currently looking to hire a Full-time Education Grants Coordinator. The Education Grants Coordinator is a professional position serving the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida by assisting in the research, preparation, and management of grant opportunities that align with the Tribe’s educational goals. This position plays a vital role in identifying funding needs, researching opportunities, developing proposals, and ensuring compliance and reporting for awarded grants.

This role is organized under the Chief Education Officer, supporting all departments under their oversight, including but not limited to Daycare, Pre-K, K–12, Employment and Training, Adult Education, and the Library.

The Coordinator maintains a comprehensive database of grants, deadlines, and requirements, regularly updates the Grants Management System for accurate tracking, and ensures alignment with the Tribe’s centralized Grants Department. The position also contributes to community outreach, partnerships, and collaborative efforts to expand funding and advance the Tribe’s educational priorities.

The Coordinator must be dedicated to serving the needs, interests, and people of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, with a strong commitment to protecting and asserting Tribal sovereignty through all aspects of grant development and administration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Needs Assessment & Research

• Conduct needs assessments for departments under the Chief Education Officer.
• Identify potential funding opportunities from federal, state, and private sources.
• Stay informed of upcoming grant cycles and develop a funding strategy based on Tribal education priorities.

2. Grant Application & Development

• Collaborate with the Grants Department to develop, write, and edit grant proposals, ensuring all submissions align with funder requirements and Tribal goals.
• Support the preparation of proposal budgets and required documentation.

3. Financial Management

• Work with the Finance Department and the Grants Department to monitor awarded grant budgets.
• Track expenses, ensure proper allocation of funds, and support financial reporting as required.

4. Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure all grant-funded activities comply with Tribal policies, grant agreements, and federal regulations.
• Prepare and submit timely progress and financial reports to funders.
• Maintain organized grant records and documentation for audits and evaluations.

5. Relationship Management

• Serve as a liaison between the Chief Education Officer’s departments, funders, and external partners to facilitate communication, coordination, and collaboration across grant-funded initiatives.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and outreach events to strengthen relationships and identify new funding opportunities.

6. Data & Records Management

• Maintain up-to-date data in the Grants Management System and ensure accuracy across all grant-related documentation.
• Support data collection for impact tracking, evaluation, and reporting.

7. Other Duties

· Perform other duties as deemed necessary and assigned to support the goals and operations of the Chief Education Officer’s departments.

Required Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Public Administration, or a related field.

· Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in grant research, writing, or administration, preferably within a Tribal or nonprofit organization. Experience in education-related programs (Pre-K–12) is strongly preferred.

· Skills:

o Strong written and verbal communication skills

o Excellent organizational and project management abilities

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with grant management software

o Understanding of federal grant processes, reporting, and compliance requirements

Work Environment and Schedule

· Standard office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

· The position is based on the Miccosukee Reservation , located approximately 20 miles west of the Miccosukee Resort & Casino on SW 8th Street in Miami, FL. Address: 37790 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33194.

· Occasional travel may be required for meetings, trainings, or conferences related to grant-funded projects or educational partnerships.
