Range U - $46.29 - $52.58

Range V - $49.71 - $56.38

The DSH–Coalinga is now accepting applications for  Clinical Social Worker (H/CF) Safety – Retired Annuitant positions. The incumbent works as a member of an interdisciplinary team; provides recovery-oriented treatment groups, therapeutic interventions, and other social services; assists the treatment team in evaluating patients’ readiness for release; works as liaison between Conditional Release, family, community, other stakeholders and the team.

Working Conditions

The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees are required to have an annual health review and TB test or whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job functions.

Alternate schedules may be available based on current staffing needs. Maximum of 960 hours per Fiscal Year (July 1 - June 30)

There are multiple vacancies for this classification. Positions filled may be assigned to any shift on any program.

• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.

Coalinga State Hospital is accepting applications for this recruitment continuously. This advertisement will remain posted until the position(s) have been filled. Cut-off-date for this recruitment will be every other Friday commencing March 20, 2026. Applications may be processed on a flow basis prior to the cut-off-date to meet the hiring needs of the department. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and have eligibility by the application received date to be invited to participate in the next available scheduled interview and/or processed for conditional hire.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Demonstrated ability to maintain professional therapeutic relationships with patients, to assist them with problem solving, and to teach/model principles of the norm of non-violence. Demonstrates good staff/patient boundaries and monitors and assists others to help them maintain theirs.

Knowledge of SVP Commitments (WIC 6600), PC 2684 and PC 2972 Commitments.

Knowledge of DSM-IV TR and DM V based mental illnesses and evidence based skills/interventions

Relocation Reimbursement

Reimbursement for relocation expenses are available up to $1,000 pursuant to operational needs and fund availability. Reimbursement amounts and per diem rates will be based on the candidate’s prospective classification as outlined in the bargaining unit agreement of the CalHR rules.
