Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position will support the Dallas Medical City location in the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) department. This is a full‑time position. Typical hours are Mon‑Fri 8:30 am‑5:00 pm. This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience. This is what I call a Unicorn role— a unique, dual‑functioning position supporting both Bone Marrow Transplant workups and ICD‑10 data entry for our in‑house lab. In this role, you won’t just be processing data—you will be a critical link in ensuring our BMT patients have everything they need to move forward in their care journey. What does the Certified Medical Assistant do? Under direct supervision, the assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e., exams and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians’ schedules. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate. Record patient data before each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes. Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures. Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed. Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician. Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols. Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist. Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN. Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows. Perform other administrative duties, i.e., typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician. May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision. Qualifications Level 1 High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. Entry‑level position requiring 0‑3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant. Level 2 Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Level Sr Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting. Current CPR certification required.
