Actuarial Analyst

Position Overview Actuarial Analyst North American Programs Pricing Actuarial Responsibilities Support the North American Programs Business Unit through profitability studies, price monitoring, planning, and new business opportunity analyses. Prepare monthly reports on Rate Change, Large Losses, Actual vs Expected data, and other key metrics. Build and maintain Excel tools that enable Underwriting teams to review individual accounts and overall portfolio performance. Query and validate complex policy and loss data using SQL. Conduct deep‑dive analyses, including quantifying the impact of business strategies, market conditions, mix of business, loss trend, loss costs and reinsurance structures. Collaborate with Data and Analytics colleagues to develop Power BI dashboards. Mentor junior members of the team. Assume additional duties, responsibilities and activities as appropriate to the role. Qualifications Associate status or progress towards Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society, or another relevant actuarial organization. Advanced Excel skills: lookup functions, pivot tables, nested IFs, and data analysis across large datasets. SQL experience with ability to query and manipulate complex data. Self‑starter, motivated, proactive, quick learner, willing to question, investigate and follow through. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility with senior underwriters and business unit leaders. Strong attention to detail and technical soundness. Ability to prioritize and deliver on competing demands. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of actuarial methods and ability to estimate Ultimate from raw data. Experience with rate filings and familiarity with ISO Loss Costs. Experience querying complex datasets and building advanced Excel tools. Role Factors Show continued progress on actuarial exams. Office presence required 3 days per week. Occasional business travel. Benefits Base salary range of $115,000 to $130,000 (NY), based on experience and location.
