Phlebotomist 5100

Location: Rockville, MD | Schedule: Contract, on-site, M-F 8:00a-4:30p and every other Sat 8a-12p Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis for a projected duration of 3 months, with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing in support of patient care and diagnostic testing. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) as required Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum of 2 years of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a 3 months contract opportunity with potential for permanent placement, offering the chance to apply your phlebotomy expertise in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
