Police Officer I (S) The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) invites applications for a permanent, full‑time Police Officer at the O’Berry Neuro‑Medical Treatment Center. The officer will protect clients, staff, visitors, and property at O’Berry Center and Cherry Hospital on a 24‑hour/7‑day basis. Responsibilities Maintain safety and enforce state and federal law enforcement regulations at the facility and surrounding areas. Respond to complaints and calls for intervention, conduct investigations, and perform patrol duties. Conduct criminal investigations, search and seizure, evidence collection, and enforcement of chain of custody. Provide service of warrants, subpoenas, and participation in court proceedings. Collaborate with partner law‑enforcement agencies under mutual‑aid agreements. Perform duties as a patrol officer, detective squad member, or crime‑prevention officer. Qualifications Employment grade SW04, salary range $43,811 – $70,098. Must be at least 20 years old and possess a valid NC driver’s license. Must complete Basic Law Enforcement Training and NC Probationary Law Enforcement Certification within one year of employment. Experience in criminal investigations, evidence collection, or traffic enforcement is preferred. Experience working with a mental health population is preferred. Must be able to work rotating 12‑hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays). Benefits Competitive salary based on grade and experience.
