Teacher - Special Education Licensed Specialist

The Special Education Licensed Specialist including Occupational Therapist / Physical Therapist provides evaluation, consultation, and therapeutic services to students with disabilities in order to support access to educational programs and participation in school activities. The therapist collaborates with families, educators, related service providers, and community agencies to develop and implement individualized supports that promote student independence, mobility, functional performance, and educational success.

A successful Occupational Therapist supports students in developing the functional, sensory, fine motor, self-regulation, self-care, and adaptive skills necessary to access educational environments and participate successfully in school activities. A successful Physical Therapist supports students in developing mobility, positioning, physical access, motor planning, and functional movement skills necessary to safely participate in educational programs and school-related activities.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, a valid Colorado license appropriate to the assigned discipline, and experience providing school-based therapy services. Knowledge of IDEA, ECEA, and special education service delivery requirements is also required.

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.

Essential duties and responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), conducting evaluations and assessments, providing direct and consultative occupational therapy and/or physical therapy services, collaborating with teachers, administrators, related service providers, paraprofessionals, families, medical professionals, and community agencies to support student success, maintaining accurate and legally compliant records, documentation, progress reports, and service logs, and complying with all applicable federal laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Title I and Title III program requirements (as applicable), along with other national regulations governing K12 public education.

Compensation for this position is $68,000 to $127,485 per year (2026-2027), based on verified experience and qualifications, and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule. This position is scheduled for 188 work days annually. Additional compensation opportunities may be available through stipends or supplemental assignments, depending on job responsibilities.
