Job Title Sr Mobile Diesel Technician – DOT Management Level Company Cox Automotive (Cox Fleet) Job Summary Perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment. Act as the lead technician on job sites, providing expert diagnostics, troubleshooting, and client consultation. Responsibilities Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections for a range of vehicles. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electronic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems including brakes, cooling, engine electronics, diesel steering, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic instruments. Road‑test vehicles to verify proper operation after repairs. Manage parts inventory, obtain necessary parts from approved vendors, and reconcile supplies. Maintain company‑issued service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Engage with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, and resolve issues. Prioritize concurrent tasks, allocate time efficiently, and maintain high productivity. Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks in accordance with safety protocols. Document work, upload photos, and fill out DOT and internal forms using the company iOS device and TRAIT application. Conform to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and internal safety, health, and environmental policies. Requirements High school diploma or GED plus at least 3 years of experience with heavy‑duty vehicles. Alternate candidates may have a related degree or 5 years of experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience with refrigerated equipment. Own a set of hand tools required for job duties. Must complete all company‑required training. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and physical exam; a DOT medical card with more than four months validity may substitute the physical. Must be 21 years or older, hold a valid driver’s license in the state of residence, and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Certifications (must have or obtain within 18 months) ASE T8 (PMI)
